On 3 October I attended a concert at the Grainger Museum, one of the tour venues we visited on Day 1 of the conference. Speak Percussion performed “Bell curve” by Eugene Ughetti. The handbell players were dispersed throughout the museum and connected via networked wireless click tracks. They drew lovely sonorities from the Federation Handbells by striking them with sticks and violin bows, and changing the pitch by immersion in water. Meanwhile the audience roved the museum and enjoyed the exhibits. Despite the activity all around this performance seemed conducive to a serene meditative state in the players and audience.
