On Wednesday 13 July 2016 I attended a meeting of Music Librarians and music library staff from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) and the University of Queensland (UQ) who gathered together to share knowledge and practices unique to music libraries.
A meeting of this type had not happened for many years so it was refreshing for all staff involved to meet and discuss their work. Discussion covered practices around: resource sharing, music sourcing and distribution for ensembles, music score circulation, score binding, music information inquires, copyright and more.
Music Librarians Ryan Weymouth (QCGU) and Tracey Powell (UQ) also spoke of the Australian conference of the International Association of Music Libraries, that will feature many excellent speakers and the “Getting to know the score” workshop and a Conservation/disaster management workshop by State Library Queensland. I will also be the official photographer for the conference. See more about the conference.
It was great to be invited to the meeting and learn of all the different approaches that music libraries employ to service their clients. The cake and coffee were also enjoyed!
